Modern Family Law is a growing national law firm focused on family law. The company is hiring a Senior SEO Specialist to help increase organic search traffic and bring more potential clients to the firm.
SEO is one of the firm's main sources of new clients. The website currently serves five states and 15 markets, and a new website is planned for November.
The new website will include content organized by state, city/market, and practice area. This role will manage local SEO, technical SEO, content strategy, and visibility in AI-powered search.
Success will be measured by organic search visibility, website performance, and consultations generated through organic search.
What You Will Manage
Local SEO
Manage local SEO across 15 markets, including:
- Denver
- Colorado Springs
- Fort Collins
- Oakland
- San Jose
- Palo Alto
- Austin
- San Antonio
- Dallas
- Seattle
- Bellevue
- Everett
- Atlanta
- Savannah
- Alpharetta
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing Google Business Profiles
- Improving local landing pages
- Managing local citations
- Monitoring reviews and other local ranking signals
- Improving internal linking between state, city, and practice-area pages
- Connecting local pages with consultation opportunities
Technical SEO and Website Migration
Lead the SEO planning and preparation for the new website launch in November.
You will be responsible for:
- Checking website crawling and indexing
- Finding and fixing rendering issues
- Managing redirects
- Checking canonical tags
- Implementing and reviewing structured data
- Monitoring technical SEO after the website launch
- Working with web developers to resolve technical issues
- Reviewing webmaster recommendations and handling tasks that need additional attention
- Documenting technical SEO processes and requirements
Strong collaboration between SEO and Web teams will be important.
Answer Engine Optimization
Improve the firm's visibility in AI-powered search platforms such as:
- Google AI Overviews
- Google AI Mode
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Perplexity
- Copilot
You will monitor citations, brand visibility, and how often the firm appears in AI-generated answers.
You will also identify opportunities to improve visibility, especially on platforms where the firm's presence is currently low.
Keyword and Content Strategy
Develop a keyword and content strategy based on what potential clients are searching for.
Topics will include:
- Divorce
- Child custody
- Child support
- Spousal maintenance
- Property division
You will:
- Research relevant keywords
- Find content gaps
- Create keyword maps
- Build content plans
- Organize content by state and market
- Decide which content should be created first
SEO Measurement and Reporting
Use Google Search Console, GA4, and HubSpot to measure SEO performance.
You will track:
- Impressions
- Organic clicks
- Search visibility
- Leads
- Consultations
- Conversions
You will also identify which SEO activities are working and which ones need to be changed.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with:
- Content teams
- Web developers
- Marketing teams
- Marketing leadership
The goal is to keep technical SEO, content, website development, and organic growth working together.
Your First 90 Days
Days 1–30
- Learn how the firm's customer journey works, from the first Google search to a signed case.
- Review Google Search Console and HubSpot data.
- Audit local SEO performance across all 15 markets.
- Identify the three biggest SEO issues that need attention.
Days 31–60
- Lead technical SEO preparation for the November website launch.
- Begin implementing priority market and practice-area pages.
- Complete the first content opportunities identified through the content-gap analysis.
- Work with Web and Content teams on the new website.
- Take an active role in planning and improving organic growth.
Days 61–90
- Work with the Marketing team on the firm's AI search strategy.
- Review the firm's visibility across AI search platforms.
- Identify areas where the firm has low visibility.
- Create a prioritized plan to improve AI search presence.
Required Capabilities and Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional SEO experience
- At least 2 years of experience working with multi-location or multi-market websites
- Strong technical SEO knowledge
- Ability to analyze crawl reports
- Ability to identify rendering problems
- Experience working with web developers
- Advanced knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4
- Experience using SEO data to make business decisions
- Experience managing at least one website migration from planning through launch and post-launch monitoring
- Ability to connect SEO work with leads, consultations, conversions, or revenue
- Strong communication and collaboration Capabilities
Helpful Capabilities
These aren't required, but they are a plus:
- Experience in legal, healthcare, or another regulated industry
- Experience with AI search and Answer Engine Optimization
- Experience tracking AI citations and brand visibility
- Experience with structured data and schema markup
- Spanish SEO experience
- Experience using HubSpot to track organic leads and conversions
- Experience working with Salesforce

Salary and Benefits
Salary: $110,000–$120,000
