The California Post will be a game changer, putting the people of the Golden State first and holding the powerful to account across digital platforms and print.

As part of this bold expansion into Los Angeles, we are looking for two Part-Time Social Media Editors to join our newsroom team. The ideal candidate will be deeply engaged in the social landscape, skilled in video editing, fluent in emerging trends, and adept at producing compelling content that connects with a broad, news-driven audience.

Responsibilities:

1. Package and publish content for New York Post social media accounts across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, and more.
2. Create short-form vertical videos, memes, graphics, and other engagement-focused posts.
3. Film, edit, and produce video content from live events, interviews, and in-house programming for social distribution, ensuring alignment with platform-specific best practices.
4. Pitch and execute timely, newsworthy, and trending content ideas.
5. Engage with audiences across New York Post social channels, including moderating comments and facilitating meaningful interactions.

Requirements:

1. At least three years of professional experience managing social media for a news organization.
2. Proven experience in multimedia content creation and social publishing across digital platforms.
3. Proficiency in video and photo editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Canva, supported by a strong creative portfolio.
4. Strong editorial judgment with excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
5. Current knowledge of social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms, with the agility to adapt strategies to drive engagement.
6. Hands-on experience managing large social media accounts with measurable success in audience growth and engagement.
7. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills under tight deadlines.
8. A passion for news, culture, and storytelling, with the creativity to translate those interests into compelling social content.

Note: The shift for this role is Saturday and Sunday, 6am-2pm and 12pm-8pm PST.

Base Pay Range: $35.00 - $39.00 Hourly

We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.

For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
