Project Liberty Foundation is seeking a Research and Governance Program Manager for a six-month temporary maternity cover from March 2024 - September 2024. The candidate would preferably be based in our Washington DC office, but it is not required. This position will play a key role in managing Project Liberty Foundation initiatives including research, events, tech, and policy outreach, with a core focus on developing and promoting Project Liberty Foundation’s academic partnerships. The Program Manager will work in close collaboration with the global Project Liberty Foundation team and under the guidance of the Head of Strategic Insights. This is a unique opportunity to advance responsible technology in a fast-paced, international environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• 70% - Manage Project Liberty Foundation (PLF) partnerships with Georgetown University, Sciences Po, and Stanford University, liaise with counterpoints at these institutions to ensure impact of PL-funded research outcomes and generate content based on research outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication and cooperation framework among partner universities through quarterly network meetings, regular written updates and ad hoc meetings.
  • Socialize PL-funded research amongst PL Fellows. Solicit, co-draft, and review blog posts and research articles from Fellows in line with PL themes.
  • Synthesize and analyze the output of academic partners into documents, governance briefs, research reports, blog posts, and other items intended for external audiences.
• 20% - Manage domestic and international outreach among governments, businesses, investors, technologists, civil society, and academia outside of our immediate network as it pertains to promoting PL academic partnerships and funded research outcomes.
  • Facilitate university partner engagement with policymakers, PL Alliance members and other PL priority audiences, including planning and logistical support for PL events.
• 10% - working across the PL environment (e.g. team, Alliance, Ecosystem, etc) on the overall success of its goals
  • Working across PL to support campaigns and initiatives, as they are defined. This includes contributing to shaping communications material or other content.
  • Creating synergies internally to further the mission of PL
  • Adhering to and promoting the values of PL
  • Other tasks as commensurate with the role

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• An advanced degree in international relations, public policy, political science, or a similar field.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in research, coordination, and/or policy analysis and advice.
• Ability to synthesize complex results and present them to a non-specialist audience.

The maximum salary for this position will be equal to the equivalent of $68,000 annually. The actual salary offer will be determined on factors including the qualifications, experience, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
