Position summary

We are seeking an independent and motivated Research Associate with a passion for driving innovative research projects that have the potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients. This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage start-up in a key position, with significant opportunities for growth and advancement as the company expands.

Key responsibilities and learning opportunities

· Mammalian cell culture and purification of clinical candidate molecules to generate research material for our immuno-oncology programs.

· Characterize proteins by SEC HPLC, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis and Uncle Tm/Tagg.

· Analyze protein binding kinetics and set-up stability assays.

· Lead laboratory operations such as inventory management, instrument maintenance and purchasing.

· Execute SOPs and improve upon or develop new SOPs as needed to support team goals.

· Analyze experiments, record data in electronic lab notebook and present your results to internal teams.

Preferred qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences related field such as protein chemistry, cell biology or genetics and 1+ years of hands-on research experience in industry or academia.

· Good sterile technique and hands-on experience in cell culture.

· Theoretical knowledge of chromatography techniques, such as: Protein A and IMAC affinity, IEX and HIC.

· Ability to follow SOPs, pick up new technical skills quickly and maintain a detailed laboratory notebook.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently and work independently.

· Clear and effective communication and the ability to build open and collaborative relationships are essential.

· A positive attitude and a strong attention to detail are required.

Bonus qualifications

· Experience working with discovery and/or development of therapeutic antibodies.

· Experience using Äkta FPLC and HPLC instruments.

· Experience on mammalian cell culture.

This is a full-time position based in Hayward, CA. Compensation and title are dependent on relevant experience. The annual base pay range for this role is between $66,560 - $93,600.
