Local Kitchens is seeking a highly motivated Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in fortifying our payroll, onboarding, and benefits systems. As the sole owner of payroll, reporting directly to the controller, you will embark on a unique journey to build and scale payroll and onboarding processes from the ground up within a hyper-growth environment. Responsibilities:
Bi-Weekly Payroll Management:
Oversee bi-weekly payroll processes for both hourly and salaried employees.
Manage the full stack of associated components, including leave of absence payments, retroactive payments, bonuses, and tips.
Onboarding Assistance:
Assist field teams in onboarding processes onto ADP, ensuring compliance with I9 requirements.
Benefits Coordination:
Collaborate with our benefits broker and third-party systems for seamless 401K administration and other employee benefits.
Serve as the point of contact for general payroll and benefits inquiries, acting as a liaison for complex questions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with the accounting team to ensure accurate monthly payroll entries.
Proactively engage in other projects as assigned, contributing to the overall enhancement of payroll and HR processes.
Ownership and Audits:
Take ownership of annual W2 preparation and be the go to person for any audits related to payroll and benefits.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant experience in the field.
2+ years of proven payroll experience, preferably in a rapid growth company or the restaurant industry.
Comprehensive experience in all stages of the employee lifecycle.
Proficiency in Payroll, Onboarding, Benefits, and/or People Ops.
Familiarity with ADP WFN and third-party timekeeping systems.
In-depth knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to work with large and complex datasets.
Comfortable asking probing questions and challenging existing processes.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects, timelines, and complex information.
Thrives on autonomy, self-motivation, and effective independent work.
