Job Description:

Leader in medical device manufacturing is looking for an Engineer in Acton, MA for a contract role expected to last 6 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive Continuous Improvement using Lean principles, optimize assembly processes for Patient Positioning Surgical Devices, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards, while maintaining manufacturing documentation and facilitating New Product Introduction activities.

responsibilities:

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional operations team members, including Focus Factory Manager, Quality Assurance Engineer, Purchasing, and Planning, to address manufacturing process issues for Patient Positioning Surgical Devices.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement using Lean principles and 5S methodology to enhance assembly process efficiency in a Low Volume/High Mix environment and optimize material flow.
  • Support assembly of Patient Positioning Surgical Devices as part of a Focus Factory Team.
  • Utilize Lean/Six Sigma methodology to identify and lead Continuous Improvement Projects targeting Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Cost improvements.
  • Design and develop assembly fixtures, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Lead process improvement activities, including updating tooling, fixturing, and process sheets.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing process documentation, such as Manufacturing Process Specifications, Device History Records, Tooling/Equipment Specifications, and Preventative Maintenance and Calibration procedures through the Engineering Change Management (ECM) process.

Skills:

 

 

 

  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Solid Edge) for creating and modifying part drawings and production specifications.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
  • Preferred experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Preferred experience in the Medical Device or a similar regulated industry.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
