Job Description:

Under the supervision and guidance of the League Coordinator/Fitness Director, the Youth Soccer Referee is responsible for officiating youth soccer games at the YMCA. This position requires individuals to monitor play and ensure safety of all coaches and participants. Provide direct supervision of participants in a safe, enjoyable, positive, and inclusive environment that welcomes participants of all skill and activity level. Provide a quality experience to participants focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Referees will be expected to referee youth games, keeping youth safe and the games under control. This position also requires referees to act professionally and to serve as role models for the participants. Referees are required to wear referee jerseys when working a game. This position also requires that referees communicate with adult coaches to ensure games start in a timely manner. All employees of the YMCA including referees are expected to uphold the four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Must have familiarity with the rules of soccer and the modified rules used by the YMCA.
  • Must be able to communicate with Coaches to get games started promptly.
  • Must be able to run for extended amounts of time.
  • Must be able to communicate schedule conflicts with supervisor.
  • Must be able to remain calm in a stressful competitive atmosphere.
  • Must pass CPR/AED/1st Aid certification by an approved provider within 30 days from original date of hire and maintain while employed.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions in outdoor locations.
