Camp Big Canoe is a not-for-profit overnight camp located in Muskoka, Ontario. Situated on a beautiful 240-acre plot of pristine Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forest, with its very own Hart Lake, Camp Big Canoe is a residential camp offering a dynamic and enriching camping experience for children & youth aged 6-16.

We are seeking a qualified, committed and dedicated LIT Coordinator for the summer

We are proud to offer the LIT program as a Grade 11 High School Course, granting credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The LIT Coordinator leads a group of 12, 16-17-year-old campers who spend 2 sessions or 24 days at camp. The first 12 days are spent in learning the soft leadership skills that they posses, those that they can learn and how to lead a group of people in a unit or program area. The second portion of the program involves hand on learning by placement in a unit.

LIT Coordinator - Job Description

Responsible to the Head Leadership

- to do what needs to be done

- Leadership experience an asset

- expected to coordinate with other resource staff for the instruction of specialized skills

- should have good experience working with youth

- need to be organized and plan ahead

- are expected to encourage and teach their campers leadership skills

- is able to support and participate in the camp program, except when the needs of the skills program must be met, or excused by the Director.

- performs other duties as assigned by the Camp Director
