Catalyte is building a new educator-facing website for a client. The stack is WordPress on WP Engine, LearnDash Pro, Elementor Pro, and GrassBlade xAPI Companion
Location: Remote
Primary Responsibilities
- Platform setup: WPE staging/production configuration, WordPress baseline, commercial plugin installation and compatibility validation
- LMS architecture: LearnDash course hierarchy (4 units, 16 topics, 80 sessions), LearnDash Groups, group-based content protection for gated materials
- Registration and access control: Gravity Forms (or equivalent) registration flows, educator approval workflow integration with LearnDash enrollment, regional routing (ZIP lookup or user-selectable region)
- XAPI / PAM integration: GrassBlade xAPI Companion configuration, LRS connection, PAM embed validation on topic pages
- Theme and pages: Elementor global styles, homepage, course catalog, lesson/topic templates, registration and educator-facing pages
- Quality and launch support: Cross-browser testing, accessibility remediation (WCAG 2.1 AA best-effort pass), staging smoke tests, deployment checklist execution
- Documentation: Admin guides and configuration notes for JA handoff (approval workflow, LearnDash content management)
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years professional web development experience with WordPress as a primary platform
- Senior-level ability to configure, debug, and integrate commercial WordPress plugins without daily supervision
- Demonstrated experience with WP Engine managed hosting (staging/production push model, EverCache, SSL/DNS coordination)
- LearnDash Pro, including Groups & Cohorts and group-based content protection (not Essentials tier)
- Elementor Pro page building, global styles/kits, and responsive layout
- Form plugins with conditional logic and post-submission hooks (Gravity Forms strongly preferred)
- PHP for WordPress: hooks, custom plugin or theme functions, `wp_usermeta`, role/capability patterns
- Comfortable working from a fixed requirements spec and WBS with weekly status reporting and change-control discipline
- Ability to produce handoff-ready documentation (screenshot-based admin guides, configuration logs)
Preferred Qualifications
- GrassBlade xAPI Companion or similar xAPI/SCORM bridge plugins
- xAPI / LRS integration and completion-tracking validation
- WCAG 2.1 AA testing with automated tools (axe, WAVE) and manual keyboard/screen-reader checks
- Prior work on educator portals, LMS sites, or membership/gated-content models
- Experience on JA or comparable nonprofit/education engagements (helpful for stakeholder communication norms)
