Summary:

Develop, document, and support real-time software applications for Wabtec, a leading supplier of technology-based products and services for the rail and transit industries. This position has an opening for a dynamic, result-oriented Senior Software Engineer with a positive attitude to work with a team of developers. The individual will be assigned to the Train Control team for the implementation and maintenance of functionality for the Train Management Dispatching System (TMDS) product.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development of new functionality and applications using code quality and security standards.
Responsible for maintenance of existing applications – bug fixing, defect triaging, feature development, validation, and training.
Responsible for SQL Server schema implementation and modification.
Responsible for mentoring other software engineers and participating in design and code reviews.
Responsible for participating in design and technology decisions as necessary.
Responsible for communicating with customers on requirements, design, implementation, test, and deployment issues as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Computer/Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in application development with .NET and SQL Server.
Solid experience in desktop application development including WinForms and Windows services. WPF and web development a plus.

Ability to independently research and solve complex software problems.
Ability to independently design and implement new software features.
Ability to write design documents for existing and new applications.
Understand customer detailed requirement specifications.
High degree of attention to detail.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Team player and works well with others.
Effective oral communication skills; ability to articulate clearly and concisely.
Self-motivated, quick learner, results-oriented and a clear focus on quality.
Ability to develop high level of credibility and strong positive relationships with customers, peers and management.

Physical Demands:

Employee will be performing work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
Employee will spend a lot of time looking at a computer monitor.
Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee able to travel if needed less than 10%
Employee able to use a computer for programming and interacting with his team.
Employee will be repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Employee will be communicating with others to exchange information.

Work Environment:

The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
Wabtec works in a hybrid model giving employees the flexibility to work remotely on Monday/Friday and in-office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
