Job Description:

Clarity Online SEO, a digital marketing agency based in Seattle, WA, is looking for an SEO Content Writer to join our team. This is a fully remote position with a flexible schedule. Initially, we’re offering a 3-month contract, with the plan to transition to full-time employment at the end of the contract period.

The job is equal parts content writer and copywriter, but you don’t need experience in both. Most of the content you produce will be B2C blog posts, but you’ll also write service pages, location pages, and the occasional landing page, as well as some B2B content. This is not a social media or thought leadership role, but we welcome that experience, and while it’s also not a client-facing role, you’ll have some client interactions.

We’re looking for someone with a knack for taking complex concepts and making them understandable while converting readers to customers. You’ll take a keyword from a concept to a fully-formed piece that supports the client’s goals and matches their tone, voice, and style. We’re small, so you’ll have a lot of autonomy, room to learn, and you can grow your career how you want. We work mostly async with regular syncs, so you’ll be working independently more often than not. You also need to be familiar (or, at least, comfortable) with using AI in your content efforts.

Our hiring process is:

  1. Interview with the Content Strategist
  2. A short writing and editing test
  3. Interview with the CEO

To apply, submit your resume, LinkedIn profile, and portfolio. If you don’t have a portfolio, put links to at least three published pieces at the bottom of your resume. Bylines preferred, but if you’ve done ghostwriting, that’s OK, and we’ll also accept archived links.

At this time, we’re only taking applications from individuals and will not look at any applications submitted by an agency.

Responsibilities

  1. Regularly create engaging, compelling SEO-optimized content for between 10 and 20 clients that aligns with their branding, voice, and long-term goals.
  2. Update existing content for knowledge gain, visibility, and to improve conversion rates.
  3. Implement feedback and suggestions from stakeholders.
  4. Work collaboratively with the content strategist to identify content gaps and overlaps to ensure content isn’t duplicative or competing for keywords.
  5. Continually update and evaluate client websites to suggest content or UX improvements.
  6. Attend client-facing meetings when necessary.
  7. Create basic visuals for content (stock photos, basic charts)
  8. Self-edit and proofread publications before submitting for review.
  9. Submit and publish content consistently on or before deadline.

Requirements

  1. Open to U.S. residents only
  2. Two or more years writing and optimizing SEO content for a B2C or B2B audience
  3. Two or more years experience with a content management system, preferably WordPress
  4. Familiarity and experience with SEO best practices; stay up to date on latest trends in SEO
  5. Experience using project management tools to track content and communicate progress
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
  7. Strong ability to juggle multiple projects and client requests with overlapping timelines and competing deadlines

Nice to Have

  1. Experience with Surfer for writing and optimizing content
  2. Experience using GSC to inform content efforts
  3. Experience with keyword research and content strategy (Ahrefs, SEMrush)
  4. Experience with Looker Studio
  5. Basic HTML knowledge
