About This Role

 

What will you be responsible for?

 

This position will be responsible for the architecture, design, maintenance, and support of the organization's Global Network connectivity, including Surface and Underground mines.

 

In this role you will

 

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

 

  • Take a supporting role for Global Network services, working closely with Newmont IT and OT teams, Business Partners, and Network Operators. Act as an escalation point for other engineers.
  • Develop technical solutions for Global Network Connectivity and, ensuring requirements meet Newmont connectivity use cases, standards, SLAs, and support.
  • Develop and maintain technical requirements for network device connectivity, and provide recommendations for effective use of this technology in mining environment.
  • Build connectivity solutions for low latency, high reliability, and Cloud based systems.
  • Develop, promote and adhere to Newmont’s methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure all state, federal and national communication licensing and compliance requirements are met.
  • Mentor and train team members
  • Build and maintain relationships across Business Units, Partners, and Vendors.

Education

 

  • Bachelor of Science in the related field - Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Possessing expert level certification: Cisco Certified Network Expert (CCIE) is a strong plus.

 

Required Experience

 

  • 10-15 years of experience in support, service management, specification, design, development, and deployment of data networks and communication systems.
  • Expert understanding of Routing and Switching architecture, design, configuration, and operations is required.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of network protocols used in software defined platforms.
  • Experience in operational network design from requirements to commissioning.
  • Prior mine, oil & gas, or large industrial site experience, and in depth understanding of the related challenges of these highly fast paced critical environments.
  • Solid understanding of general Security fundamentals.
  • Expert device and network performance analysis and troubleshooting skills.
  • Expert level practical knowledge, skills and experience in vendor agnostic Network Automation.
  • Solid understanding of Cisco IT and Industrial equipment lines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions (internally and externally with vendors).
  • Demonstrated technical success in a fast paced, results-oriented engineering environment.
  • Ability to work independently, and mentor others.

 

Preferred Experience

 

  • Experience working for a Global multi-national corporation.
  • Large-scale network design tailored for critical environments, hi-availability, low-latency, and performance.
  • Experience with Python and Red Hat Ansible, in real time automated environments.
  • Exposure to mining specific network technologies, applications, and tools.

 

Working conditions & location

 

Where you will be located!

 

  • The primary location for this position is Denver, Colorado but qualified candidates based anywhere in North America are encouraged to apply as relocation assistance or remote options may be considered.
  • This position requires travel as needed, both domestic and internationally. The succesful candidate must maintain valid travel documents, allowing unrestricted travel to and from USA.

The salary range offered for this role is $131,580 to 160,820. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

 

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
