Our Data, Research, and Evaluation team is looking for a Senior ETL Developer to join our team! This is a great role for database professionals that enjoy getting to work on new technologies and start technologies from scratch! This team is hands-on to new technologies and builds projects that benefit across the state – sometimes on a national level!

Pay Range:
$59,619.04 - $81,057.60/year
This range is based upon available budget funds. The selected candidate’s skills, abilities, education, and experience will determine the salary offer within this posted range.

Examples of Work

  • Develops conceptual, logical, and physical data models using relational and dimensional data modeling techniques.
  • Creates and modifies database elements and implements and maintains table indexes to improve query performance.
  • Tunes and optimizes stored procedures and queries to improve database retrieval times and SQL server performance.
  • Designs, deploys, and administers ETL packages and IBM DataStage jobs. Implements code versioning with CICD.
  • Build reliable data pipelines and load processes to connect and transfer data between systems and formats.
  • Develops cost efficient data solutions using cloud technologies (Azure) and recommends ways to reduce operational costs of existing solutions.
  • Provides support for data lakes and data warehouses aligned with agency needs and directives.
  • Creates complex functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to support application development, and prepares documentation to support technical design. Authors and executes unit test scripts.
  • Reviews data submissions from districts, provides data audits and reviews for program staff, and provides information (e.g., data and reports) and technical assistance to program staff.
  • Analyzes and fulfills data requests from internal and external customers.
  • Designs, implements, and supports data warehouse batch management control processes, error handling, advanced customer interfaces, and reporting tools.
  • Assists with assessment and recommendations of data access methods.
  • Works with the NDE Help Desk to identify and resolve advanced data issues and perform direct database updates.
  • Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as computer science, computer engineering, or management information systems and two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position, including experience with IBM DataStage, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Data warehousing. Any equivalent education and\or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least four years of experience with conceptual and physical database modeling using ER Studio or Erwin, IBM DataStage (11.5 or above), Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or above) database and warehouse tools, and Python scripting.
