Scion Nonprofit is conducting an immediate search for a collaborative Human Resources Manager in Texas! This unique and dynamic role will support the human resources efforts of a group of philanthropic organizations supporting public education and uplifting families and communities within the state. This position offers a hybrid schedule of working from home and splitting time between meetings in Austin and San Antonio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable labor laws and employee safety regulations across all organizations.
• Collaboratively works with team members in each organization in recruiting a deep, diverse candidate pool, and interviewing, providing background checks, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
• Maintains accurate and updated employment records in Bamboo HR online platform, including salary, evaluation documents, HR paperwork, and essential employee information.
• Supports the annual review process of the employee handbooks for each organization and ensures legal compliance.
• Manages outsourced services for payroll functions, ensuring accuracy of information and updates. Conducts periodic evaluation and market comparison of service providers as needed.
• Assists employees with benefits selection, 401K processes, updating information across systems, and managing open enrollment as well as out-of-cycle changes in benefits.
• Implements learning opportunities for employees about benefits and retirement planning, as requested.
• Supports organization leaders in identifying HR best practices including the incorporation of DEI values into daily work.
• Collaborates with leaders to ensure high quality supervision of employees, development and monitoring of employee performance improvement plans, collection of appropriate documentation, design of corrective actions.
• Conducts HR-specific investigations and enacts termination proceedings, if needed.
• Assists in annual salary and benefits projections as part of the budgeting process as requested.
• Remains current with salary benchmarks for the State, specifically in the philanthropic/ non-profit sector to inform job classifications and pay bands of the organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five years of experience working in direct HR service including payroll and benefits.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with a wide array of employees and leadership across the organizations.
• High sensitivity to confidentiality beyond the typical level associated with HR function.
• Bachelors Degree and/or certification in human resources management from a national accrediting organization (HRCI, SHRM, AIHR, etc.).
• Experience managing systems-level HR decisions preferred.
• Nonprofit experience preferred.
• Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
