Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Tree Farm Manager/Arborist to oversee all operations and maintenance activities at our tree farm. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the health, growth, and overall maintenance of our diverse tree inventory. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for trees, extensive knowledge of arboriculture, and strong leadership abilities. You will able to stay at the home on-site at no cost to you.

Responsibilities:

1. Tree Inventory Management:

- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of tree species, including their growth patterns, maintenance requirements, and suitable environmental conditions.
- Monitor tree health, identify diseases, pests, or other issues, and promptly implement appropriate remedial measures.
- Conduct regular tree inspections to assess overall health, growth, and potential risks.

2. Tree Planting and Harvesting:

- Develop and implement effective tree planting and harvesting plans, considering environmental factors, optimal growth conditions, and
market demands.
- Oversee the planting and transplanting of trees, ensuring proper techniques are followed to maximize their survival rates and growth potential.
- Coordinate tree harvesting operations, considering tree maturity, market demands, and sustainability practices.

3. Tree Maintenance and Care:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive tree care program, including pruning, fertilization, irrigation, and pest control strategies.
- Monitor and manage irrigation systems, ensuring trees receive adequate water at the appropriate times.
- Perform regular pruning and trimming to enhance tree shape, health, and overall aesthetics.

4. Staff Management and Training:

- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of tree farm workers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and efficient work practices.
- Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training to staff members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Delegate tasks effectively, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback to enhance performance.

5. Equipment and Inventory Management:

- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all tree farm equipment, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
- Manage inventory levels of trees, planting materials, and other supplies required for day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source high-quality trees, equipment, and materials.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a tree farm manager, arborist, or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of tree species, their growth patterns, and maintenance requirements.
- Strong understanding of arboriculture techniques, pruning, fertilization, and pest management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate tree maintenance equipment.

- Must be capable of laborious work and heavy lifting, up to 80lbs
