Description: The Baltimore Small Surface Combatant Hardware Engineering Manager will be responsible for the functional leadership of a team of diverse engineers within Engineering & Technology supporting all of the naval ship design and production programs within RMS. This role is responsible for staffing, training, talent development, technical process improvement, cost estimating, communications, metrics, technical reviews and the full spectrum leadership of the group. The manager will maintain and ensure compliance with all systems engineering digital development environment processes for the team. This position requires the ability to work in an accelerated team environment leading the HM&E (Hull Mechanical and Electrical) engineering team for Small Surface Combatant Systems at the Baltimore Facility. The selected candidate will work closely with the Small Combatant & Ship Systems Chief Engineering organization and demonstrate technical knowledge in the following areas:
- Ship top-level program specifications, including proposing requirements deviations and changes to US Navy.
- Specialty engineering, environmental qualification, system certification across multiple US Navy Ship Platforms
- Oversee control account EVM progression and cost account manager CAM responsibilities for the team.
- Represent LM and the program as one of the primary US Navy customer interfaces.
This position can be either Baltimore, MD or Moorestown, NJ until December 2022, and then will be in Moorestown, NJ only beyond December 2022.
Basic Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent technical discipline
- The candidate will have demonstrated competence in leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams and must have a strong understanding of the following:
- Ship System Engineering Design
- Generation of requirements
- Integration of ship hardware and mechanical components
- The candidate must have demonstrated proficiencies in earned value, schedule, cost and risk management techniques.
- The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and be able to communicate at both programmatic and technical levels with subordinates, peers, senior management levels and the customer.
- Occasional travel is required
- Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:- Master's degree in Engineering Discipline or equivalent technical discipline
- Understanding of Ship Qualification Test and Procedures
- Experience managing a complex program technical baseline
- Experience with Ship Construction processes
- Understanding of Functional and Detailed Design Artifacts for Ship Building
- Previous experience with DoD Programs and/or US Navy is a plus
Ship Drawings included 3D Modeling of Ship Construction
Interface direct with Ship Yard for Detail Design and Construction issues.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
