FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM – Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management
This job is a Federal Work Study, non-benefited position in Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management department that reports to the Program Director of HRTM. Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program by the Department of Education. This program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students with significant financial need and is administered by the FWS Coordinator, and the Office of Financial Aid, in accordance with the law, federal regulations, and with instructions from the United States Department of Education.
Salary – $13.50 an hour
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled Gwinnett Technical College student who is eligible for funds through the Federal Work Study Program for the current semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, must be able to file accurately, able to use computer and office machines. Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management program student preferred.
Technical Competencies:
Ability to use computer programs; ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritize workload; ability to provide support services to both internal and external clients; ability to use proper judgment in selecting which issues to handle or re-direct; ability to identify clients’ issues and provides satisfactory resolution.
Job Description Summary:
Under close supervision, provides clerical support and office assistance to the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism faculty.
Job Responsibilities & Performance Standards:
7.1 Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work.
7.2 Shows persistence and seeks alternatives when obstacles arise; seeks alternative solutions; does things before being asked or forced to by events.

7.4 Accepts direction and feedback from supervisors and follows through appropriately.
7.5 Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately.
