Insite Brazos Valley, a community-driven lifestyle media brand for the seven-county region of the Brazos Valley, is searching for an editorial assistant with the experience and skills to assist our editor-in-chief in the production of all aspects of Insite Brazos Valley Media. Our parent company is Integ, which provides digital and offset printing and business solutions, whose corporate office is based in Waco, Texas. Insite Brazos Valley Media is based in Bryan College Station, Texas.

We currently publish 10 print magazines a year and provide online access to the magazine, plus additional news stories through our website, insitebrazosvalley.com. We have a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (InsiteBV).

Job Details:

The ideal candidate will be able to cultivate story ideas, interview sources, attend media events, write stories in a timely manner for the print magazine, mount content on InsiteBrazosValley.com and promote Brazos Valley content through marketing strategies.

The Editorial Assistant assists the editor-in-chief with all aspects of Insite Brazos Valley Media, including print, web and special sections; editorial production and production scheduling; oversees monthly distribution; helps to monitor Insite BV social media accounts and newsletters; helps to develop and carry out marketing plans; facilitates editorial and marketing intern assignments; and additional daily tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with the editor to develop content for all Insite Brazos Valley Media products, including Insite Brazos Valley Magazine, InsiteBrazosValley.com, and special sections, including writing, editing and photography elements.
• Maintaining the Insite Brazos Valley Magazine website to include posting stories, events, promotional and advertising content.
• Leading the charge for the building and scheduling weekly e-newsletter and bi-weekly promotions newsletter and creating timely promotional content for contests/sweepstakes/giveaways.
• Monitoring and scheduling posts across all Insite BV social media accounts.
• Helping to train and mentor editorial and marketing interns each semester.
• Overseeing regular distribution; manages and hires delivery drivers; keeps track of monthly counts.
• Assisting in planning and executing Insite Brazos Valley Media launch parties.
• Professionally represent Insite Brazos Valley Media at media events, press conferences, and other events as directed by the editor-in-chief
• Additional tasks as assigned relative to Insite Brazos Valley Media.

Qualifications:

· REQUIRED: Journalism writing experience; knowledge of writing and copyediting of AP style; proficiency in social media, specifically Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

· PREFERRED: Advanced copyediting in AP Style; marketing strategies knowledge; video; photography; experience using Adobe Creative Suites, specifically Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator.

Job Type: Full-time

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field preferred, or a combination of education and related experience.
