ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.
The Aviation Department is seeking an Automotive Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair automotive equipment (e.g., cars, light trucks, etc.) and related equipment that requires the mechanic to have a high degree of technical ability. Usually, repair jobs are laid out in general terms and inspected upon completion.
Currently there is a vacancy in the Aviation Department for an Automotive Master Technician which requires ASE Automotive Master certification.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Verifiable recent employment in automotive repair within last 5 years.
- Proficient using fleet maintenance management software (i.e., Fleet Focus M4, M5, Faster Asset Solutions) to enter repair information.
SALARY
Pay Range: $24.93 - $40.61 per hour.
Hiring Range: $24.93 - $30.31 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Four years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and computerized diagnostics of automotive equipment;
- OR Four years of experience as an Equipment Service Worker II;
- OR an Associate's degree in automotive technology from an accredited college,
- Plus two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and computerized diagnostics of automotive equipment.
- Graduation from an accredited automotive trade school may be substituted for six months of experience.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- This assignment requires a "Master" certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) at time of hire.
- All positions require a motor vehicle air conditioning Enviromental Protection Agency (EPA), section 609, certifiction issued by an EPA certified testing agency at time of hire.
- All positions are required to provide and maintain at the work site, a complete set of their own hand tools, pneumatic tools, and toolbox.
- ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿Note: technicians are provided a tool allowance of $600 annually in September towards this purpose.
- Some positions require a State of Arizona Vehicular Emissions Inspector Certification and/or alternative fuel/diesel fuel certification(s) at the time of hire.
