The Writer-Developer will support the Chaplaincy School by collaborating closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Educator/ Researchers to write and develop lesson content. This role requires expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and compliance with ArmyU and TRADOC standards. The Writer-Developer will also oversee project management aspects of lesson development, coordinating with key stakeholders, including educators, researchers, graphic designers, and videographers, to produce high-quality, engaging learning materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and write lesson content for the Chaplaincy School, ensuring alignment with Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accreditable graduate-level education standards.
- Create fully asynchronous lessons following the Experiential Learning Model (ELM), integrating multimedia elements such as videos, readings, and reflection activities.
- Design coursework that includes 2 hours of instructional content and 1 hour of assignment work (e.g., essays, discussion boards, quizzes, case studies).
- Develop detailed lesson plans, rubrics, facilitator guides, and assessment materials.
- Ensure all content meets ArmyU and TRADOC instructional standards.
- Work collaboratively with SMEs, educators, researchers, graphic designers, and videographers to create engaging and effective learning materials.
- Manage lesson development timelines, stakeholder expectations, and project deliverables.
- Participate in an orientation period to understand the IRL-RSA organization, course audience, and program of instruction (POI).
- Complete administrative requirements such as CAC card procurement, staff & faculty training, and onboarding activities.
- Review, revise, and develop instructional content as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or technical writing.
- Familiarity with ArmyU standards, TRADOC policies, and military education frameworks.
- Knowledge of Experiential Learning Model (ELM) and asynchronous learning methodologies.
- Strong project management skills with experience in coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Completion of the Common Faculty Instructor Course (CFIC) and Common Faculty Developer Course (CFDC) is highly desirable.
- Telework authorization may be granted on a case-by-case basis by the Director of Training Development.
- Writer-Developers will be expected to produce deliverables according to established milestones.
