Purpose: The on-site Web Developer is responsible for the programming and functionality of the University’s web platforms. The focus of this non-supervisory Web Developer role will be on supporting and building out existing and custom functionality and integrations for both websites and web applications. Essential Job Responsibilities:
Web Development
- Lead web application development life cycle from concept to delivery.
- Provide full-stack web development involving both frontend and backend web development.
- Build innovative, cross browser compatible, state-of-the-art sites and applications.
- Develop databases that support websites and web applications.
Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze and report Web site traffic statistics and search engine trends.
- Monitor security and system performance logs to identify and report problems.
- Translate analysis and recommendations to management when necessary.
- Document changes to websites and web application.
Relationship Management
- Coordinate and manage internal relationships with various institutional departments and clients.
- Coordinate and external vendor relationships.
- Collaborate with others to develop or implement marketing strategies.
- Provide customer service to clients or users.
Application Support
- Write supporting code for new web applications and application enhancements that meet project goals,user needs, or industry standards.
- Provide post launch delivery and support for institutional web applications.
Emerging Technology
- Maintain current knowledge of technologies and practices.
- Assess the value, importance, and quality of emerging technologies and their applicability to the currentweb environment.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems-, or process-related topics.
Maintenance
- Provide server maintenance and database administration.
- Develop and maintain product enhancements.
- Schedule and implement code and data pushes for the University and its related web properties.
Research and Design
- Research, design, and implement new sections/features/content for new and existing web sites.
- Keep up-to-date technically with current technologies and practices and apply new knowledge to the position.
Project Management
- Ensures a systematic method of completing assigned projects within agreed-upon time frames.
- Revises, updates, and reports project modifications to the appropriate stakeholders.
Testing
- Document test plans, testing procedures, and test results.
- Develop or validate test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces.
Problem Resolution
- Troubleshoot issues relating to web and Web application.
- Provide technical support for websites and web applications.
Miscellaneous
- Performs additional tasks as needed and/or requested.
- Participates in functions and activities that advance the mission, values and vision of the institution.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years advanced experience in WordPress and PHP.
- Expert in HTML5, CSS, and CSS frameworks.
- Proficient with jQuery.
- Advanced Javascript skills.
- Advanced experience integrating CRM, Email Marketing and other third-party tools and platforms andconnecting third-part APIs.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Interested candidates must submit a portfolio of work or provide access to prior work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in related field.
- Custom post type development experience.
- Advanced experience implementing and maintaining MySQL.
- Custom WordPress theme and plug-in development experience a plus.
- 3 year analytics and testing tools experience.
- Experience deploying and maintaining development test environment.
- Working knowledge of and experience with accessibility web standards required.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and juggle multiple priorities independently while maintainingexcellent attention to detail.
- Proven experience implementing best practices of search engine optimization strategies preferred.
