A teaching assistant's primary role is to support the course instructor to ensure the effective delivery of the required materials and to foster a positive learning environment for students. Teacher Assistants are responsible for helping Teachers complete daily tasks within a classroom environment. Their duties include leading lessons or small group activities for students.
- Support the teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
- Assist the teacher in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
- Assist the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas.
- Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts.
- Present subject matter to children under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods, including stories, discussions, and role-playing.
- Lead classroom activities; may confer with parents on children's progress in the absence of the teacher.
- Assist children, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
