Student Media Coordinator

 

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following temporary position: Student Media Coordinator in the Department of Student Engagement.

 

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chanticleer newspaper, including: coordinate editorial and production schedules, support the production process, and assist in the distribution and promotion of the Chanticleer newspaper.
  • Monitor and analyze communication efforts, track key performance indicators, and generate reports to assess the effectiveness and impact of communications initiatives.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the Chanticleer newspaper, including budget planning, expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, application, interview, and hiring process of the editorial team.
  • Provide constructive critique of all publications post-printing with a focus on accuracy, design elements, and consistency.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of student journalists including, but not limited to, journalism ethics, writing/editing skills, design/layout, photography, and multimedia production.
  • Facilitate the coordination of student travel and supervise conference attendance.

 

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication, or a related field is required. Equivalent experience will be considered. Demonstrated experience in media administration in also required. Experience in training and mentoring student staff is desirable. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or other design software is preferred.

Public Information Specialist (BC10/ TP0598/ NS01203P), part-time temporary position. SC State Pay Band: 04. Salary range: $31,561.00 (minimum) – $44,977.00 (midpoint). Normal work days vary. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

 

Demonstrated experience in media administration, preferably in a college or university setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience in training and mentoring student staff is desirable. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite or other design software is a plus.
