Metron's team in Reston, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to contribute to the development and deployment of several large-scale defense search, mission planning and target tracking tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for development and execution of test plans to evaluate and validate these tools and will also support integration of these tools into defense system architectures.

 


Responsibilities

  • Designing, executing, and debugging test plans of applications based on software requirements and technical specifications. Managing Test Cases and executions in a Test Management tool
  • Collaborate with software development team to build a comprehensive automated testing approach for new features
  • Automating stable features and building it into CI/CD pipeline
  • Support Development by writing White Box Unit and Integration tests in Java
  • Detecting and identifying software failures so that defects may be discovered and corrected
  • Documenting results and generating historical analysis of applications’ state and stability
  • Documenting anomalies and defects in a maintained issue tracking database
  • Deploying, operating, and maintaining application test instances and/or networks
  • Ensuring compliance with general software development, testing, and maintenance best practices
  • Ensuring data integrity standards
  • Participating in application planning meetings
  • Evaluating software ease of usability and error handling procedures
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams
  • Providing application instructions for users


Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of software test experience
  • Ability to design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated suites of tests through continuous integration
  • Ability to build and maintain API test automation
  • Strong programming knowledge and hands on experience with at least one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, Python
  • Experience developing white box unit and integration tests to support development
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal skills to communicate with development team
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, test plans, and debugging
  • US Citizenship required; successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, engineering or related field
  • An academic background in STEM
  • Test automation experience
