Senior Computer Hardware Systems Engineer
POSITION IS CONTINGENT ON CONTRACT AWARD
KBR is looking for a highly qualified Senior Computer Hardware Systems Engineer to be part of a fast-paced dynamic team in support of a NAWCAD program.
Seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join the KBR team supporting NAWCAD on NAS Patuxent River, MD. You will support the design, development, integration, and test of complex computing systems providing solutions to customer requirements to meet evolving challenges.
You will analyze problems and implement solutions in support of project goals. You will collaborate with customers to formulate solutions to establish critical infrastructure, protect critical services and increase system reliability and resistance to unauthorized access.
Additionally, you will function as the Systems Engineering team lead. As the team lead, your tasks will include coordinating and overseeing the tasking of other team members, tracking project progress, and participating in planning of projects, resourcing, and events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent experience from an accredited college or university is required.
A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience is required.
At least three (3) years of specialized experience directly related to airborne systems is required.
Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. A current Top Secret Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 6 years is required.

Computer Hardware Engineer Reston/Herndon/Chantilly, Virginia
The Computer Hardware Engineer researches, designs, develops, and tests computer or computer-related equipment for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use. May supervise the manufacturing and installation of computer or computer-related equipment and components. Exclude "Computer Software Engineers, Applications" and "Computer Software Engineers, Systems Software". Hardware refers to computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and related equipment such as keyboards, modems, and printers.
Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities
Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
Analyze user needs and recommend appropriate hardware.
Assemble and modify existing pieces of equipment to meet special needs.
Build, test and modify product prototypes, using working models or theoretical models constructed using computer simulation.
Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives.
Direct technicians, engineering designers or other technical support personnel as needed.
Evaluate factors such as reporting formats required, cost constraints, and need for security restrictions to determine hardware configuration.
Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
Provide technical support to designers, marketing and sales departments, suppliers, engineers and other team members throughout the product development and implementation process.
Provide training and support to system designers and users.
Recommend purchase of equipment to control dust, temperature, and humidity in area of system installation.
Select hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements.
Specify power supply requirements and configuration, drawing on system performance expectations and design specifications.
Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
Test and verify hardware and support peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, analyzing and recording test data.
Update knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in computer technology.
Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.
