Job Type: Full time

Job Description:

Internews is working to improve the usability of open-source security tools to better meet the needs of at-risk civil society organizations, whose unique needs are often overlooked by developers. Many organizations working in the field of digital security support human rights defenders, journalists, and activists that are subject to surveillance and other forms of digital threats. These threats carry with them a psychological toll and can lead to heightened levels of stress, fear, a constant feeling of being watched, and other negative impacts. Organizations providing digital security support and incident response for these at-risk communities often lack the resources necessary to handle the critical psychosocial components of this work. In addition, those individuals providing this type of digital security support are also at increased risk for these unique psychological impacts, as well as risk of facing increased surveillance as a result of their work.

Internews is looking for skilled individuals or organizations to develop localized resources covering the psychosocial impacts and relevant response strategies for both individuals directly experiencing surveillance or other digital threats as well as for those technical experts providing support to these at-risk communities. The consultant(s) will be supervised and supported by Internews and expected to consult with local partners of the project.

LOGISTICS
This is a short-term, remote position. Candidates should possess independent work authorization in their work location that does not require employer sponsorship. Additionally, there are some locations where Internews is not able to support remote work.

This is a limited-term position anticipated for February-March 2024.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so candidates are encouraged to apply soon.
