Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation
brings together students, expert practitioners, and extended networks to work on projects that solve societal challenges using data, design, technology, and policy to lead to better and more equitable outcomes. Practitioner fellows collaborate with Beeck Center staff and Georgetown students to guide projects focused on advancing good governance, seamless systems, and a thriving public interest technology workforce.
 
The Program Manager, Innovation + Incubation (I+I) supports the Beeck Center’s programmatic work and is a key thought partner to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and I+I Fellows. They work closely with emerging project teams which includes I+I Fellows, researchers, and students to establish project plans, support the execution of those plans, track milestone deliverables and impact, and strategize on future projects. The Program Manager will also contribute to cross-cutting initiatives and cross-project collaboration efforts led by the Director of Strategic Initiatives. This highly collaborative position will work closely with staff, project teams, partners, and students. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
Program Management + Implementation
  • Provide direct project management and support to I+I Fellows and project teams.
  • Work with Fellows to develop detailed project plans, identifying milestones, managing timelines, and tracking progress towards deliverables.
  • Hold the overall program view of I+I project activities and timelines and support reporting efforts and engagement with funders.
  • Draft project documentation, synthesizing various points of view, and discerning priorities.
  • Anticipate and manage risks, including methodological and ethical risks and organizational and logistical challenges.
  • Support onboarding for new Fellows, introducing them to program templates, tools and other guidance.
 
Cross-Beeck Center Coordination
  • Participate in center-wide meetings and check-ins to learn about on-going work and goals across the Beeck Center.
  • Work closely with internal Beeck Center colleagues to support grant reporting, project proposals, and other reporting to highlight project activities and manage operations and internal project management tools used for projects.
  • In close collaboration with the Operations team, provide project resourcing support in areas such as contracting and procurement.
  • Communicate with peer program managers and key Beeck Center staff around updates, coordination points, and reporting expectations.
 
Cross-Cutting Initiatives + Cross-Project Collaboration
  • Help grow the impact of all Beeck Center projects by supporting the Director of Strategic Initiatives in identifying needs and opportunity areas, in close collaboration with project teams.
  • Support cross-cutting initiatives (research methods, M&E, consolidating successes and lessons learned) to improve project capacity and outcomes.
 
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in place of degree
  • At least 3-5 years experience in planning, building, and managing complex projects
  • Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective collaborative relationships across internal and external stakeholders as well as with individuals with varying levels of work experience and professional backgrounds
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders such as government practitioners, academics, policy leaders, and others in the civic tech community
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work in an environment with competing priorities and a hybrid team
  • Familiarity with and interest in the civic tech and/or social impact space with exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency using computer systems including word processing, collaborative software such as Slack and Google suite, Zoom, Miro, and project management tools such as Asana

With the hybrid designation, this role will be expected to work two (2) days per week from the Beeck Center’s two office spaces in Washington, D.C.: one on Georgetown University’s Main Campus and a second downtown on Georgetown’s Capitol Campus. We prioritize spending time in person with our student analysts for collaboration and career development as well as building relations across the various other centers on campus.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

 
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
