Department: Environmental Services

Reports to: Assistant Director and Director of Environmental Services Position Summary:

Coordinates the daily operation of the EVS office as well as helping to coordinate the work activities of Environmental Services and transport personnel to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions in the hospital.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, along with A.A.S. in Secretarial Science or Business preferred.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Answers telephone in a clear and concise manner. Takes and relays messages. Provides information in a courteous manner.
Types correspondence and reports on a word processor. Handles a wide range of secretarial functions including filing, word/excel, photocopying and bookkeeping.
Complies and prepares periodic records and reports.
Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills.
Facilitates the work of the Director by assessing in routine matters such as answering routine questions, making appointments, maintaining schedules and responding to inquiries from the staff.
Maintains personnel records of employees.
Responsible for maintaining bulletin boards.
Maintains and orders supplies.
Updates and maintains Department Manuals.
Interacts with coworkers, patients and visitors with compassion, courtesy and a professional customer focused manner.
Has knowledge of the duties of an Environmental Services & Transport Aide.
Acts as on behalf of management.
Maintains the highest possible quality standards for the Hospital.
Assists with scheduling and work assignments.
Provides input on employee evaluations. 3
Ensures that staff is compliant with routine procedures for chemical use, cleaning and care of equipment.
Recommends projects, painting, improvements or repairs to improve appearance and efficiency.
Controls use of supplies, equipment and personnel to optimum efficiency.
Assists in special projects and research to update techniques or study cost savings to improve sanitation or efficiency.
Attends meetings and seminars to further enhance professional skills.
