We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced NSF/DOE - STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) Principal Investigator specializing in Chemistry and Material Science to lead innovative research projects. - Lead and manage research projects focused on chemistry and material science, ensuring alignment with NSF and DOE objectives
- Design, plan, and execute experiments involving spectroscopy, microscopy, organic chemistry, biochemistry, quantum engineering, and other advanced analytical techniques
- Develop innovative materials and processes through rigorous laboratory experimentation and data analysis
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate machine learning, AI, bioinformatics, and learning technology into research workflows
- Prepare detailed research proposals, progress reports, and technical documentation for funding agencies
- Supervise laboratory activities including dissection, histology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, horticulture, ecological restoration, and working with students
- Foster partnerships with academic institutions and industry stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and commercialization of research outcomes
Skills
- Extensive experience in scientific research within chemistry and material science disciplines
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as spectroscopy, microscopy, dissection, histology, spectroscopy, and spectrometry
- Strong background in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, genetics, biostatistics, ecology restoration, nutrition science, histology, cell biology
- Knowledge of computational tools including MATLAB, Python, C++, Java, Linux operating systems; familiarity with Blackboard or other learning technology platforms
- Expertise in curriculum development for higher education settings involving classroom experience in math (algebra, calculus, differential equations), geometry (trigonometry), discrete math (computer science), statistics (biostatistics), and working with students in adult education environments
- Experience applying machine learning algorithms and AI techniques to scientific data collection and analysis
- Strong understanding of quantum engineering principles as they relate to material science innovations
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams effectively while maintaining meticulous research standards
- Excellent communication skills for preparing technical reports and presenting findings at conferences
