Job Description:

The Manager of Cellular Therapy Data Quality and Analytics is accountable for leading and directing the strategic operations of the data quality and analytics program. This role involves ensuring the integrity and reliability of data related to cellular therapy while driving initiatives that leverage data analytics to support clinical excellence and operational efficiency.


This includes reporting on outcomes data and meeting regulatory requirements for the Center for International Blood & Marrow Transplant Registry (CIBMTR), the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), and the Northwest Marrow Transplant Program (NWMTP).


The Manager oversees the clinical quality data for the cellular therapy program. This data is utilized for internal clinical quality improvement initiatives, enhancing the efficacy and effectiveness of the BMT registry, CT program, and Quality Management program. It also supports intra- and inter-institutional collaborations for published abstracts, scientific papers, and presentations at professional conferences. This position is responsible for the content and preparation of outcomes reports for NWMTP Program committees, supporting our cellular therapy accreditations.


The Manager oversees the cell therapy database and collaborates with the Cellular Therapy Program Senior Director to ensure that accurate and complete data is reported to all internal and external entities. Responsibilities in this role also include personnel management and managing finances associated with registry-related accounts.

Function/Duties of Position:

Data Reporting

  1. Responsible for the clinical quality data and outcome reporting to the CIBMTR, FACT and the State of Oregon for three medical centers (OHSU, DCH and Legacy Health) as part of the NWMTP.
  2. Responsible for clinical quality outcomes reports for use and by request for the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology Quality Director, Medical Director and Cellular Therapy Sr. Director.
  3. Manage and complete requests from physicians for statistical analysis and clinical quality outcomes data used for quality improvement, enhancement of clinical pathways, research/abstracts and manuscript publications.
  4. Oversight of program database queries and outcome reports for the Northwest Marrow Transplant Program (NWMTP), insurance Requests for Information (RFI), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and physician requests.
  5. Oversight of HSCT Program Access Database (creation, maintenance, database backup, auditing, work instructions and guideline development, and field updates based on current requirements for transplant and registry team data collection needs).
  6. Develop internal systems to ensure consistent communications across teams and ensure uniform data reporting between various forms and internal program database.
  7. Responsible for completion of RFI content for program information and outcomes data (OHSU, DCH, Legacy

Program Development

  1. Responsible for creation of the strategy for successfully meeting CIBMTR form submission requirements with ongoing management/revision of that strategy to ensure submission goals are met for three separate medical centers (OHSU, DCH and Legacy Good Samaritan).
  2. Collaborate with Program leaders in defining strategy for registry and clinical quality data group development through evaluation of the ability to meet registry required reporting targets (CPI, NWMTP reporting, etc.).
  3. Responsible for unifying broader NWMTP efforts by providing training and auditing assistance to Legacy transplant program. Streamline processes and reports between teams and increase data accuracy and consistency among groups.
  4. Unify Registry and BMT Clinical Trials Network (CTN) team activities to provide consistent data reporting to various outside groups as required per CIBMTR/NMDP/BMT CTN as well as other organizations.
  5. Collaborate with key stakeholders in the development of structure and resource allocations for new programs.
  6. As the cellular therapy clinical quality data representative participates in NWMTP Program, and KCI quality meetings on a regular basis.
  7. Responsible for problem solving of systematic and technical issues involving registry data (e.g. Access database, CIBMTR FormsNet, Epic, etc.).
  8. Leadership and oversight of process improvement opportunities: assess, implement, and evaluate.
  9. Oversight and preparation of institutional audits such as FACT and CIBMTR/NMDP.

Personnel Management

  1. Identify, hire, onboard and train candidates who are committed to furthering the mission of OHSU, the Knight Cancer Institute and the CHM Transplant Program.
  2. Leadership role in development of the training curriculum and in training new employees utilizing available resources within the institution and program.
  3. Provide retraining of new and current staff as appropriate.
  4. Assess for and provide individualized professional development opportunities as appropriate and available for staff members
  5. Assess equity and appropriateness of compensation as needed in collaboration with transplant program leaders
  6. Provide performance feedback to staff members on a regular basis that is timely, clear and actionable with documentation of that feedback captured when necessary.
  7. Coordination of volunteer staff, as available, for the completion of administrative tasks for the BMT registry and clinical quality data team.
  8. Oversight of creating and adhering to the guidelines and work instructions for the registry team and team meetings.

Financial Management

  1. Responsible for tracking reimbursement payments from the CIBMTR for forms submission.
  2. Prepares financial reports for review by Director, Cell Therapy Program.
  3. Working with program directors for identifying overall registry team budget and related yearly expenditures.
  4. Budget management for the unit.
  5. Responsible for NWMTP risk share calculations for hospital and physician risk share return funds.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Five years’ experience in stem cell transplant or cellular therapy clinical quality data analytics and/or registry (inclusive of CIBMTR and FACT survey and accreditation requirements)
  3. 2 years in a progressively increasing managerial/supervisory role
  4. Prior experience with managing and running queries in Microsoft Access database, Excel or similar applications.
  5. Strong understanding of statistical and analytical software.
  6. Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  7. Must be proficient with Epic, MS Excel, Oracle, Access, Word
  8. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships

Additional Details:

  1. Must be able to travel to all Knight worksite locations, including travel via the tram. Must be comfortable consenting patients seen in the CHM clinic. Occasional weekend work and changes to typical working schedule may be necessary to meet deadlines. Position may allow or may require teleworking. Teleworking arrangements will follow OHSU policy for teleworking with prior manager approval and sign off of Knight and Registry
