VIDA Select is scouting for Lifestyle Portrait Photographers near Hartford, CT area! We have a constant flow of incoming clients who are looking for professional natural-looking candid style photos.

We would like an experienced, dependable portrait photographer who can travel to Hartford, CT to join our team and work with us whenever we have local clients in need of pro photo services. Our photo shoots typically include three wardrobe changes and take place at 1-2 locations. Site selection is key here, in that we need a variety of backgrounds. Our team can work with you on on-site selection if needed. For each outfit, we must see varying depths of field and diversity in the lineup.

Key Responsibilities

• Create the written correspondence to finalize details pre-shoot (including, but not limited to site location) within 24 hours of being introduced via email.
• Respond to all photoshoot-related emails within 24 hours.
• Arrive at the location on time and prepared to work outside.
• Engage with the client to create a comfortable setting.
• Be able to direct the client on posing during the photo shoot, keeping in mind we don’t want the client to look “posed”.
• Help make sure the client looks their best during the photoshoot.
• Narrow down the selection of photos to a specified number for delivery.
• Deliver .raw and high res images within 48 hours post-shoot. Please note EDITS ARE NOT NECESSARY, as we have an in-house team for that.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• Experience in professional and candid/lifestyle outdoor photography.
• You must own the following equipment:
• Professional level DSLR
• Variety of lenses (wider-angle, zoom, standard, etc.)
• Flash unit, speedlight, reflector, etc.
• Great interpersonal communication skills (both with VIDA’s team and clients).
• Experience with taking informal portraits of adults ages 20-60; including headshots, 3/4 body, and full length for online dating style (“lifestyle”) photos.
• Extensive experience with shooting portraits in natural light and a variety of outdoor locations, since almost all photo shoots will take place outside.
• Ability to provide composition variety in the depth of field.
• Knowledge of fill flash.
• Must be a team player.

Skills & Experience That Are A “Plus:”

• Experience taking photos specifically for dating profiles & social media.
• First-rate online portfolio preferred but not required.
