As the Lead Engineer, Software Engineering (Mobile) you will provide technical leadership, including the design, development and delivery of business technology-enabled applications, products and services. Youll drive proficiency within teams, provide resolution to technical issues, assure best practices are followed, and assist management in meeting strategic initiatives while contributing to smooth business operations.

What youll do on a typical day:

  • Coordinates technical tasks and ensures teams are working efficiently; oversees the development/support of specific IT areas and systems, and timely delivery of projects
  • Contributes to defining new business requirements; identifies and communicates risks to the business
  • Acts as a liaison between project management, technical teams and IT leadership; assures best practices are defined and followed; drives consistency across applications and projects wherever possible
  • Manages all aspects of coding for the team branching, code review, ensure code reusability and maintainability with constant refactoring, collaboration with Enterprise Architecture team on standards and approaches. Ultimately accountable for the quality of the code for the project.
  • Coding project deliverables
  • Mentor developers and helps resolve technical roadblocks; conduct collaborative code reviews and coordinates the deployment and implementation of software solutions

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, youll need:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 4 years of experience architecting and developing mobile (preferably Android) apps for large enterprise systems with demonstrated experience in a technical lead role
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle, DB2)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, a good understanding of mobile app UX patterns, and a passion for implementing high quality user interfaces
  • Advanced knowledge of IT software development methodologies and processes in an agile environment

Itd be great if you also have:

  • Experience developing mobile apps using React Native
  • Experience shipping Android apps to the Play Store and/or managed deployment using Enterprise Mobility Management tools such as Soti
  • Full Stack development experience using Java and Angular
  • Experience with creating and consuming distributed data services (REST APIs, Messaging Buses).
  • Experience with full SDLC implementation of projects using TIBCO or SOA design patterns.
  • Experience in an Agile Environment with Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with asynchronous messaging frameworks for application integration
  • Experience in production support activities by monitoring and troubleshooting production issues
  • Experience in software configuration management using SVN and GIT
  • Experience in working under multiple operating systems like Windows, UNIX (Sun Solaris and Linux) and UNIX Shell scripting

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of highly talented mobile engineers to build and deliver the mobile roadmap in the areas pertaining to - redesign of enterprise mobile app, new information architecture, native design language, consistent mobile UI patterns, building scalable mobile search and many other features to bring the customer experiencesto life via the mobile app

  • Responsible to build the mobile features using the right iOS and Android architectural patterns to ensure scalability and robustness

  • Work with mobile product development closely to understand the product and customer needs; and enable the product and customer vision for the company

  • Contribute to advance the mobile platform to improve developer efficiency

  • Responsible for the people management of a co-located and remote engineering teams

  • Cultivate an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics

  • Recruit best in class and diverse mobile talent from the industry

  • Drive innovation within a fast-paced agile environment

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid experience building and leading native Mobile App development (iOS / Android)

  • Mobile UI/UX experience using Apples Human Interface Design and Google Material Design

  • Experience building out consumer-facing products and platforms for mobile apps with high performance, availability and high scalability

  • Experience managing software engineering teams designing and building software products in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic software development environment

  • Extensive hands-on experience building and managing the development of complex, large scale applications and products that require a deep understanding of application logic and dependencies

  • Experience being a people leader, coaching, mentoring and guiding for highly talented technical teams

  • Experience attracting, hiring retaining and leading top engineering talent

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum or other rapid application development methodologies is required

  • University Degree in computer science, or engineering-related field required
