We are looking for a Game Designer to be a part of our Design team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Lead Game Designer and team to create and improve fun, balanced, and rewarding ability designs for continuously exciting gameplay. This individual will collaborate with other designers and engineering to design and develop unique combat abilities for gameplay day-to-day, while identifying synergies between different abilities during development so the design team can continually improve the gameplay experience. This role will report to the Lead Game Designer.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Lead Game Designer and team to create and improve fun, balanced, and rewarding ability designs for continuously exciting gameplay
- Collaborate with other designers and engineering to design and develop unique combat abilities for gameplay day-to-day
- Identify synergies between different abilities during development so the design team can continually improve the gameplay experience
- Tune and balance gameplay values using telemetry and player feedback
- Be able to communicate with all departments effectively and maintain high level documentation related to systems and features owned by the Design team
- Playtest with the studio and the design team to review and develop the game
- Be open to feedback and participate in open discussions regarding game mechanics and balance
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in Game Design role
- Experience working on class and ability design
- Love of games: specifically FPS and ARPG titles as well as cooperative games.
- Ability to describe and breakdown gameplay components
- Demonstrated experience with ability design and balancing
- Proven track record of class and talent tree design
- Creativity and strong sense of pacing
- Solid math and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferences
- At least one shipped title in a Class Design Role
- Experience in UE4 and Blueprint
- Core understanding of 3Cs
- Knowledge of game design theory, tools pipelines
- Familiarity with development tools such as Perforce, JIRA, and Confluence

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $70,000 - $100,000
