Available immediately is an opening for the Home Repair Project Coordinator / Handyman who will be responsible for coordinating and completing minor to moderate home repair projects for St. Louis City seniors. You will need general knowledge of how to do minor to moderate home repair projects (e.g. installing a storm door, replacing a leaky faucet or a broken light fixture, installing smoke detectors, changing out locks on doors, etc.)

The Home Repair Project Coordinator / Handyman will serve as a project manager for the home repair projects completed by the organization and serve as the face to the community for this program. At a high level, it includes the following:

• Conduct site visits for approved applicants of the Minor Home Repair Program
• Determine approved projects that fall within the scope and budget of the Minor Home Repair Program
• Write detailed work orders for independent contractors and other work groups
• Perform the approved minor to moderate projects to the high standards of the organization
• Handle all of the closing paperwork for all projects

The above list is not exhaustive; there will be times where you will be asked to help participate and potentially lead out other projects on an ad hoc basis. This can include areas outside of your immediate area of responsibility. These projects can come from any member of the organization's management team.

This is a full-time position with benefits, and reports to the Director of Home Repair. This is an at-will position, and can be terminated by either party at any time…

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred as well as three years minimum of experience working directly with clients on a direct basis in a home repair or social services environment; (or a combination of equivalent education and experience)
• A minimum of five years of project management experience of some kind; must be able to handle a very fast-paced organization with little supervision
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
• Knowledge of basic home repairs and the ability to check other's work for accuracy (minor repair projects only)
• Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently and multi-task multiple projects at once
• Ability to manage confidential files, perform all tracking and invoicing in accordance with funder requirements
• Highly organized, detailed and the kind of person who leaves no stone unturned when working on a project
• Have own reliable transportation and automobile insurance
• Must pass required criminal background checks, and be able to work nights and weekends when required
