About the Role

QBS Learning is seeking experienced ELA Content Writers with a strong background in decodable passage writing for Grades K–4. This role requires hands-on experience in phonics-based curriculum development and a solid understanding of California State Standards.

Decodable writing experience is mandatory for this role. Candidates without direct experience in decodables will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Write high-quality decodable passages aligned to phonics progression for Grades K–4.
• Develop content that supports early literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
• Ensure strict adherence to phonics rules and decodable constraints.
• Align all content to California ELA Standards.
• Collaborate with editors and instructional designers to refine content based on feedback.
• Follow provided scope, sequence, and style guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience writing ELA decodable texts/passages (mandatory).
• Strong background in phonics curriculum writing.
• Experience working with California State Standards.
• Familiarity with early literacy frameworks and structured literacy approaches.
• Ability to write age-appropriate, engaging content for Grades K–4.
• Excellent command of English language mechanics and pedagogy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with structured literacy programs (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Science of Reading).
• Prior work with educational publishers or EdTech companies.
• Experience developing student-facing and teacher-support materials.

Pay: $52,267.33 - $62,945.60 per year
