Job Description:

The Queer Trans Project (QTP) is a Black- and Trans-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free gender-affirming resources to queer and trans people across the U.S. Our digital marketing supports access to care, community engagement, and sustainable fundraising.

We are seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to support the execution, coordination, and operational planning of our digital marketing efforts. This role works closely with the Deputy Director to co-develop campaign plans, manage marketing systems, and execute multi-channel campaigns of comparable scope and complexity throughout the year.

This is a hands-on contractor role for someone highly experienced with nonprofit digital marketing systems who can independently execute work while collaborating closely on planning and prioritization. This role is designed for a specialist who can deliver focused, high-impact work within a clearly defined monthly hour cap.

Core ResponsibilitiesPaid Advertising

  1. Manage and optimize QTP’s Google Ad Grant, including compliance, campaign structure, keyword research, testing, and performance optimization
  2. Build and maintain paid campaigns supporting free gender-affirming kits, Gender Grip tape, donations, volunteer signups, and general awareness
  3. Write and test affirming, trauma-informed, and action-oriented ad copy

Email Marketing, Campaigns & Communications (Co-Managed)

  1. Co-develop focused, realistic marketing plans with the Executive Director, including input on timing, sequencing, and feasibility
  2. Build, schedule, QA, and report on email campaigns in HubSpot
  3. Support and maintain key automations such as welcome flows, donor communications, event follow-ups, and nurture emails
  4. Co-manage a master Annual Donor & Engagement Campaign Calendar with the Deputy Director, including approximately 3–4 major appeals per year, segmented by audience
  5. Support a consistent monthly and quarterly communications rhythm, including segmented newsletters, volunteer updates, and quarterly impact-focused narrative recaps

HubSpot, Givebutter & Marketing Operations

  1. Create and manage HubSpot forms for events, campaigns, and data capture
  2. Maintain HubSpot dashboards and reports for internal use, leadership, and funders
  3. Support Givebutter campaigns, donation forms, and reporting
  4. Ensure data flows correctly between HubSpot, Givebutter, Shopify, and Google tools
  5. Flag data or integration issues and recommend fixes as needed

Analytics, Reporting & Collaboration

  1. Ensure tracking and integrations function properly across Google Ads, Google Analytics, Shopify, Givebutter, and HubSpot
  2. Maintain simple performance dashboards (HubSpot, Google Sheets, or Looker Studio)
  3. Deliver a concise monthly summary of work completed, key metrics, and recommendations
  4. Participate in Quarterly Social Media Strategy Meetings to provide campaign timing, coordination, and cross-channel input. This role does NOT manage day-to-day social media. Content creation and posting are handled by other team members.

Required Experience & Skills

  1. Ability to translate plans into executed campaigns and scheduled workflows
  2. Hands-on experience managing Google Ad Grants for nonprofits
  3. Strong working experience with HubSpot, including emails, forms, dashboards, and automations
  4. Strong working experience with Givebutter, including campaigns, donation flows, and reporting
  5. Experience co-developing marketing plans and managing campaign calendars in collaboration with leadership
  6. Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
  7. Respect for and alignment with LGBTQ+ communities, especially trans, nonbinary, and BIPOC communities

Scope & Structure

Hours may vary month to month depending on campaign cycles, with an average of up to 40 hours per month. Compensation is provided via a monthly retainer typically ranging from $1,800 to $2,600, based on experience and the scope of comparable past projects. The role focuses on execution, coordination, and collaborative planning within existing systems.

During peak campaign periods, priorities will be adjusted to fit within the monthly hour cap, or additional scope will be discussed in advance.

What Success Looks Like

  1. This role consistently supports multiple high-effort campaigns throughout the year with a high level of independence
  2. Marketing plans are co-developed with the Executive Director, clearly prioritized, and practical to execute
  3. Campaign calendars are co-developed with the Deputy Director, kept current and actionable, and used by leadership to support alignment, pacing, and oversight.
  4. Google Ad Grant campaigns remain compliant, actively optimized, and aligned with key organizational goals
  5. HubSpot automations, forms, and scheduled emails are built in advance and function reliably
  6. Major appeals (approximately 3–4 annually) are executed smoothly with strong coordination across ads, email, and forms

Pay: $1,800.00 - $2,600.00 per month
