Job Description:

This individual will originate and review CAD submittals to include 2D layouts and fabrication details for engineered fall protection systems. Exercise sound engineering-based decision-making in accordance with codes, standards, design guides and reference material. Must possess strong capabilities in AutoCAD and plan reading and be able to interpret and offer design solutions. They will effectively manage their schedule to prioritize projects and deliver drawings in a timely manner. This individual will be expected to QC team drawings and provide constructive criticism to other team members.

Essential Job Functions

  • Create backgrounds and complete design drawing sets for client approvals, fabrication, and installation adhering to codes, company design standards and structural engineering practices
  • Generate bills of material and bills of lading for purchasing and fabrication
  • Proactively manage, track, and take necessary action to complete project on or below estimated hours
  • Quality control and standardization for all drawings
  • Work, in a team effort, with engineers, designers, project managers and sales staff to provide customer service excellence
  • Support the Estimating team with engineering input for the purposes of developing proposal drawings and documents
  • Have good working knowledge of Cal/OSHA code requirements

Competencies

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to multi-task.
  • Understanding of budgets and management of job hours.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in AutoCAD 2D (required) & Inventor 3D (preferred).
  • Field construction means and methods.
  • Knowledge of standard structural steel stock sizes for detailing.
  • Structural steel detailing experience.

Work Environment

This individual will work in an office setting. There may be times where this individual may need to enter the warehouse plant floor, in this setting constant awareness to surroundings and safety will be required.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, this individual must be able to sit for extended periods at a time. Employee must be able to read and work at a computer station for 8 hours or more per day. Employee must be able to use fingers and hands to type, write and draw. Individual may need to occasionally lift 50 lbs. when needed.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a (1) hour lunch break. Flexible work schedule within specified guidelines is permitted for this position.

Travel

No travel required. Note: The possibility of going on a local site visit or installation for training purposes may be an option.

Preferred Education, Experience & Clearances

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Technology related field
  • AutoCAD 2D
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Structural steel drafting/detailing
  • Knowledge of OSHA/ANSI Fall Protection standards.
  • AISC 360 & Steel Construction standards
  • ACI 318
  • Powers/Hilti anchors
  • Autodesk Revit
  • Upchain (PDM/PLM)
