Computer Programmer Job Summary
Provide advanced programming skills for developing and coding business applications for workflow control and file/data management.
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $65,455/annually and $132,510/annually. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Essential Job Functions
Collaborates with management and other stakeholders to fully understand the tasks that must be accomplished.
Creates and modifies computer programs based on project specifications.
Document program development and revisions.
Analyzes, reviews and revises programs as needed to increase operating efficiency or adapt a program to new requirements.
Collaborates with Systems Analyst to obtain and analyze project specifications and workflows.
Develop flow charts of date input and potential issues that could arise. Create contingencies within the program including error messages or alternate data flows
Troubleshoot and debug applications, and correct any issues.
Develop informational materials and graphics to explain systems and workflows to managers and end users. Including end user training materials.
Provide material content and support for training of end users.
Troubleshoots technical and operational issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of computer programming languages, including C, C++, SQL, Java, HTML, Python, Swift, and others.
Ability to create complex code.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extensive knowledge of computer programming.
Excellent critical thinking ability, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of application development
Ability to predict potential user and software issues
Excellent project management and organizational skills as well as attention to detail.
Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.
Working knowledge of ERP systems.
Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, Visio) or related software with ability to quickly learn systems and software used by the company.
Communicates effectively in English.
Education and Experienc e
A Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following fields of study: Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field preferred. One to three years’ experience in software development. Previous work experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands
Must be able to periodically walk to other areas of the plant as well as occasionally lift or exert push force up to 30 pounds. May have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must have good eyesight and hand dexterity, and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
Within safety guidelines, there may be exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, oils/solvents, fumes, and odors that may affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and/or skin.
