Job Description:

The Community Engagement and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for coordinating PR and donor-based wish-related activities, managing social media content and ensuring the smooth execution of wish engagements with donors, wish families and other community partners. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, creativity and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Community Engagement and Social Media Coordinator, you will:

Social Media Management:

  • Utilize social media experience to create engaging and impactful content for various social media platforms, ensuring a consistent brand voice and messaging.
  • Respond to social media posts and engage with the online community to promote awareness and active participation.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the content calendar, scheduling posts and tracking engagement metrics.

Storytelling Collaboration with the Revenue Team:

  • Work closely with the Revenue Team members to develop and maintain relationships with donors, national partners, corporate partners, and individual donors.
  • Serve as a relationship manager, effectively communicating and collaborating with wish families, national partners, and corporate/individual donors.
  • Collaborate with the Mission Delivery Team to identify wish kids to participate in public relations activities.
  • Assist in authoring wish stories by contacting wish families to gather information and create compelling narratives. Utilize experience as a creative writer to craft compelling wish stories and narratives.

Community Engagements:

  • Assist Relationship Managers (RMs) in coordinating wish engagements and events, serving as a liaison between the Mission Delivery, Communications, and Revenue Teams.
  • Execute events and activities related to wish engagements, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for wish kids and their families and the community.
  • Manage local National Partnership activations including social media and event support.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Make-A-Wish® America performance standards and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Protect the chapter’s brand identity and ensure its use in keeping with current Make-A-Wish America standards.
  • Required attendance at chapter events as necessary in support of the mission.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DIRECTION RECEIVED
Works under general supervision. Follows established procedure. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgement and overall accuracy.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or similar field; or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in marketing, communications, development, or fundraising. Proven track record of successfully managing social media.
  • Computer/System Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suites, Canva, Salesforce or database management software and Drupal or similar web CRM preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent written communication.
  • Customer service skills – able to work and communicate with a variety of external constituents.
  • Knowledge of social media best practices.
  • Ability to design and create content with adhesion to brand guidelines.
  • High attention to detail especially with written and external communications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Openness to collaboration and feedback.

Preferred skills:

  • Fluency in Spanish, preferred
  • Experience with photography and videography.
