On the Clinical Design Medicines Development (MD) IDS team, we work as one team partnering with Medicines Development and the Clinical Design Hub delivering cost-effective science through the development of novel and innovative clinical trial designs and technology solutions. Our business outcomes are focused on speeding drug development and providing the best experience for providers and patients. We have a critical need for a Clinical Design Architect and Product Engineer.

Responsibilities:
As the Clinical Design Architect and Product Engineer, you will work with outstanding and passionate leaders across Clinical Design, Operations, Results, and Development to design, lead, build and implement clinical technology solutions. As the role of clinical technology evolves to now include remote activity management, investigational software, digital endpoints, and novel measurement tools in addition to insights solutions, we need to ensure a comprehensive architecture strategy across all pieces of the portfolio. You will evolve and maintain our portfolio architecture and patterns to ensure we can meet the needs of our patients and providers. You will also engage in technical product development and delivery in addition to proof of concept and prototype activities to inform designs. A successful candidate for the role will have experience in building technology solutions to solve business challenges, strong technical learning agility, experience guiding technical teams, a passion for customer service, GxP environment experience and Agile delivery experience. Initial assignments include evolving and leading the Clinical Design architecture and engaging in key product delivery efforts. Responsibilities include:

Clinical Design Portfolio Architecture

Define, maintain, and own the portfolio architecture and patterns across Clinical Design products including custom, third party and business supported solutions.

Develop in-depth business process knowledge and foster strong relationships with business partners and clinical trial teams to inform solutions.

Lead and define technical architecture strategy and roadmap for Clinical Design products including influencing third party product roadmaps to align to Lilly objectives.

Drive strategy and implementation of future clinical data flows across all products and ensuring current clinical data flows are well understood and communicated across clinical.

Lead architecture initiatives across Medicines Development IDS and serve as a member of the architecture office representing Clinical Design.

Product Development Strategy and Delivery

Deliver clinical design products while understanding and addressing risk, privacy, information security and legal constraints.

Guide product design and development across the Clinical Design portfolio technically evaluating multiple alternatives to ensure solutions are aligned to architecture strategy while meeting business needs.

Ensure global privacy and regulatory GxP compliance collaborating with privacy team, quality team and regulators for solutions supporting clinical trials.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians, data scientists and data managers to support and evolve clinical design solutions and roadmaps.

Partner with clinical trial team colleagues to ensure business critical trial needs are met with priority.

Technical Leadership

Serve as a technical leader across Clinical Design to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and serving the needs of our business and patients.

Lead and collaborate with Lilly team members and external vendors as necessary for delivery and support of clinical solutions.

Build deep subject matter expertise in both internally developed and third party provided solutions to engage in hands-on development and support as required and consult on future direction of solutions.

Play a key, cross functional leadership role across the team to ensure we are aligned on the evolution of a delivery model intended to drive speed to value and innovation in an Agile framework.

Participate in communities of practice to share knowledge and foster continuous improvement.

Personal Development & Personal Projects

You will have the opportunity to invest 15% of your time in personal development and/or a personal project of your choice (e.g. Clinical Development Special Project, Clinical Design Special Project, Architecture Office Project, Limiting Bias for Wearable Devices Research)

Basic Requirements:
BA/BS degree in a technical field

5+ years’ experience building, developing, and supporting software solutions through the entire SDLC

Additional Preferences:
Experience leading software product development and support teams

Experience with Agile and DevOps development methodologies

Experience with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques in a GXP environment

Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery experience

Automated testing experience

Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g. Java, Node.js, React, C#, C++, Python, Bash, PowerShell)

AWS, Azure or other cloud-based certifications

Experience designing and building in cloud database technologies (e.g. Postgres, NoSQL, MySQL, Aurora, etc.)

Experience with modern software development tools such as GitHub, Jira, and Sauce Labs suite

Demonstrable examples of leading software design and architecture

Demonstrated ability to propose new ideas and influence peers and leaders

Comfortable working on projects in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and change

Great teammate and creative problem solver with strong communication abilities

Experience with clinical trial business processes

Highly adaptable to changing circumstances. Interest in continuously learning new skills and technologies

Additional Information:
The position is located at Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Primary work shift is 8 hours/day with flex time available around core hours.

Travel may be required periodically.
