Job Description:

The Business Banking Relationship Manager (BBRM) position is a sales role that focuses on growing a portfolio of business clients through acquiring new customer relationships and expanding existing relationships. The BBRM is expected to meet annual sales, revenue, volume, and new customer goals. They will maximize profitability, revenue and client retention by serving as a “Trusted Adviser” to clients/prospects, and cross selling the Bank’s full range of products and services. This job is the primary contact for developing new client relationships while managing existing Business Banking relationships. The estimated starting salary for this position is $50,000.

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Strong Sales Skills a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong PC skills
  • Knowledge of Business Banking products and services a plus
  • Strong understanding of commercial business concepts, businesses development techniques and credit concepts
  • Ability to build a network of outside referral sources for new business and maintain rapport with both internal and external partners
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement effective new business strategies
  • Share best practices with team and actively participate and contribute to team meetings
  • Ability to travel to multiple branches throughout the Bronx

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work both independently and in conjunction with branch employees to develop new business with prospects and expand existing relationships with clients.
  • Responsible for managing existing relationships within assigned portfolio and geography.
  • Process the opening of Business Banking accounts by collecting and verifying identification as required by the Customer Identification Program in accordance with BSA. Ensures client receives appropriate disclosures.
  • Assist assigned branches with onboarding new Business Banking clients. Coordinate a quarterly meeting with assigned Branches to provide status updates on the program and solicit ideas for growth
  • Responsible for attaining monthly in person meeting quota, call quota and new business goals (i.e. growth in deposits, fee income, business loans, and partner referrals), through prospecting, and cross selling to existing Customers, as well as leveraging Centers of Influence and Networking Sources (COINS).
  • Diligently utilize the Bank’s sales tracking system to record all sales activities for clients and prospects and maintain an active pipeline of sales opportunities.
  • Follow up on any referrals from the branches or other internal partners.
  • Gather financial and general business information during sales calls, and explain the features and benefits of products and services offered by the Bank. Utilize a “needs based” approach to selling.
  • Responsible for KYC (Know Your Customer) and assisting Compliance Department with investigations, follow up site visits, and completing annual reviews for high risk clients.
  • Assist in issue resolution / problem solving by either direct involvement or referral to appropriate Branch partners. Takes ownership of problems and ensures final resolution to customer’s satisfaction.
  • Develop market and industry expertise within assigned territory. Maintain established market presence and cultivates a network of outside referral sources for new business generation. Host outside events (i.e. Business Banking Financial Workshops, Chamber of Commerce event, CPA breakfast, etc.).
  • Maintain an active calling program for new business development and solidify existing relationships. Strive to ensure no loss of clients to the competition. In cases where clients do leave the Bank, determine the reason(s) for leaving and makes every effort to retain the client. Work closely with Branch partners when necessary to retain client relationships.
  • Actively generate referrals to other business partners within the Bank to help meet the comprehensive financial needs of entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • Meet regularly with internal referral sources (i.e. Branches & CRE Team) to maintain and strengthen relationships and develop a network of outside referral sources for new business development.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Business Banking products and services, including commercial loans, merchant services, payroll services, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, business credit cards, etc.
  • Develop community relationships through membership in civic and professional organizations, including active participation in networking events.
  • Educate and support Branch and other internal partners about Business Banking products and services.
