We are looking for a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. This position is a full-time position located in Research Triangle Park, NC.
- Conduct analysis and interpretation on data from genomic platforms including expression, exon, tiling, promoter, and other array types.
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation on other large data types in a genomic context.
- Establish and maintain workflows including experimental design, data quality analysis, genome and meta-genome integration.
- Write utility scripts, macros, and custom programs or algorithms in support of biological discovery.
- Conduct analyses on NextGen sequencing data (e.g., ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, miRNA-Seq).
- Coordinate with biologists and bioinformaticians to design models that summarize and explain experimental data.
- Provide interpretive analyses of data from various experimental platforms to generate biological insights.
- Prepare reports and publication-quality graphics summarizing experimental results.
- Participate in meetings with scientific teams and present findings to stakeholders.
What You Will Need:
- Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a biological/life science discipline.
- A minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or genomic data analysis.
- Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis, including RNA-Seq, single-cell RNA sequencing, and microarray analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, Java, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Experience working with large datasets and performing statistical and computational analyses.
- Knowledge of genomic workflows, pipeline development, and multi-omics analysis.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related biological or life science field.
- Experience with methylation analysis, cluster analysis, and multi-omics data integration.
- Experience preparing publication-quality research outputs and scientific visualizations
