Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

About Company / Opportunity: This is an amazing opportunity to join a well-established e-commerce enterprise. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, deploy, and manage complex backend systems.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to feature development in an agile environment using Scala (no prior experience required) and technologies such as GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
• Design and build core systems within a modern microservices architecture.
• Deliver production-ready code within days and iterate quickly based on feedback.
• Collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team, giving and receiving constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Drive high-impact projects that shape the direction and success of the product.

Must-Have Skills:

• Skilled at introducing cutting-edge industry practices and technologies to improve systems and workflows
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, with insight into how architectural choices impact scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Proven success in cross-functional teams, collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other experts
• Strong commitment to quality, consistently writing testable, scalable, and high-performing code
• Comfortable operating independently, with the ability to proactively navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving objectives
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and services
• Familiarity with Scala and its ecosystem of libraries
• Background in eCommerce or related domains is beneficial
• Interest and experience in full-stack development, particularly contributing to React-based web frontends, is a plus
