The American Diabetes Association is seeking an Associate Director of Community Education, Wellness, and Impact. As part of the Nutrition and Wellness team, the Associate Director of Community Education, Wellness, and Impact bridges the connection between people with diabetes (PWD), communities, and members of the diabetes care team. Creates connectivity within PWD, corresponding healthcare providers, and systems. Ultimately shaping the framework for self-management support and social care delivery models.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Drive the vision of the ADA to become the global leader in diabetes community engagement and impact.
- Utilize social change theories and applicable outcome measurement mechanisms (Stages of Change Model, Social Norms Theory, Health Belief Model, Social Cognitive Theory, etc.) to create and execute a population level improvement plan.
- Evaluate, organize, and develop a strategy for the ADA patient education materials library.
- Identify gaps in ADA patient education offerings and offer creative ideas/solutions to meet the needs identified.
- Revise and edit current patient education materials to maintain content quality and alignment with the Standards of Care guidelines.
- Define and grow communities of interest/connectivity among PWD.
- Produce online diabetes education segments in the form of webinars and social media videos.
- Apply the ADA Science & Medicine research, as well as the Standards of Care, to the community of diabetes, by utilizing knowledge gained to improve the strategies of health care providers and to improve the lives of people living with diabetes.
- Advance diabetes self-management support (DSMS) framework.
- Define and grow communities of interest/connectivity among PWD.
- Address the individualized needs of Education Recognition Program (ERP) community.
- Facilitates the crossroads flow of information from patient/consumer to health care providers.
- Develops relationships with community-based organizations to address target audiences, present scientific backed materials, identify and remove barriers, influence change in target audience.
- Represent ADA at relevant events, engage on social media to promote organizational initiatives and activities that position Association as a global leader and preferred partner in the diabetes community.
- Participate in planning major ADA events and activities to include the Clinical Update Conference and relevant activities at Scientific Sessions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Masters prepared in a field of health care and science.
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) preferred but not required.
- At least 5 years of experience in applicable patient facing roles in clinical setting.
- Program management experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships internal and external with cross functional teams.
- Knowledge and experience to apply and measure the short and long impact of social change theories within micro and macro systems.
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills that take knowledge to action.
- Knowledge of various management software and tools is desired, such as MS Outlook, MS Teams, MS Project, and SharePoint.
- Strong knowledge of diabetes and value-based programing.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Compensation Range: $70,000 - $78,000 DOE
