SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for Corporate financial reporting and cash management.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Must report financial results in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) together with financial and accounting policies. All reporting will be due at the times and in the format required by Corporate.
- Must fully understand all aspects of the computerized accounting system deployed in the operating divisions and utilize the system to its full capabilities.
- Will support the Sr. Controller as requested in the preparation and reliability of all Corporate financial reporting and projections.
- The responsibility for all banking activities resides with the Assistant Controller and must be executed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Review and interpret cash flow projections.
- Prepare and maintain timely cash and loan status internal reporting.
- Review Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly Corporate, Bank, Investor and Financial reporting of cash position, loan status, loan covenant tracking, and investor waterfall calculations.
- Monitor cash management activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all lender, investor, legal and regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards
- Assist Sr. Controller to develop and enforce internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or related field, required.
- 6+ years of experience in general accounting. Homebuilding or construction background preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, methods, and procedures.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge in MS Office Suite. Advanced level of proficiency with Excel. Newstar experience a plus.
- Ability to provide leadership and motivate employees to accomplish business objectives.
- Ability to analyze complex business processes and recommend cost effective options.
- Requires the ability to work while functioning under the pressure of problem solving and managing multiple concurrent deadlines.
