As a Tourism Manager at Goldbelt, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing our tourism operations. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract tourists and ensure a memorable experience for our customers.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Strategic planning: Develop and implement comprehensive tourism strategies, including marketing, pricing, and product development, to increase visitor numbers and revenue
- Create and execute objectives that support the Alaska portfolio’s strategic plan and overall company business development goals
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling promotional materials, online content, and advertising campaigns
- Identify target markets and work to attract tourists through various channels
- Ensure a seamless and exceptional customer experience from the initial booking to the end of the tour
- Monitor and improve guest satisfaction through feedback and performance evaluation
- Manage processes for seasonal housing accommodations
- Develop and manage budgets for tourism activities, ensuring cost-effective operations and profitability
- Monitor financial performance and adjust as needed
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, attractions, and tourism authorities
- Seek opportunities for collaboration and partnerships to enhance the tourist experience
- Promote sustainable tourism practices and environmental responsibility within the organization
- Identify opportunities to reduce the company's carbon footprint and mitigate other environmental impacts
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing the tourism industry, including health and safety standards
- Provide training and mentorship to ensure high-quality customer service
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Familiar with setting pricing for tourism
- Ability to help and build tours
- Familiar with seasonal housing
- Strong knowledge of tourism trends, marketing strategies, and industry best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in using reservation and booking software
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to adapt messages and strategies for diverse audiences
- A passion for travel and a commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, Experience, Skills)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience with proven experience in tourism management
- Experience working with cruise ships
- Experience creating attractive combo packages for tourists
- Experience with dock sales
- Ability to pass a background check
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS (education, Experience, Skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPR/First Aid certificate
- Previous experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and/or previous exposure to Alaska Native cultures
