Job Description:

Technical Training Professionals (TTP) is a global training provider offering premium 3D training and animation products and training services to large technical industries. At TTP, we turn complex technical information into dynamic, visually engaging training materials.

***Position Overview***

We are seeking an experienced technical writer to join our Technical Development team of animators, modelers, and subject matter experts in creating TTP’s engaging technical training. Successful candidates will have extreme attention to detail and experience creating detailed written technical content such as scripts, manuals, policies, and procedures for the operation and/or maintenance of facilities and equipment related to power generation, manufacturing, and similar technical fields. Demonstrable skill in connecting written content to both static (drawings, schematics) and dynamic (3D animated videos) visualizations is essential.

The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for technical writing for the generation of operation and training material for our clients including Video Scripts for Animation Creation, System Descriptions, Operating Procedures, Job Performance Measures, Qualification Programs, and Knowledge Assessments.

In addition to a resume, please provide at least three work samples representing relevant work products created in the last three years.

***Responsibilities***

  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information to maximize user comprehension across various content formats, tailored to the needs of the target audience.
  • Produce written content for training manuals, computer-based and animation training scripts, system description manuals, operating procedures, and other technical documents.
  • Organize technical information, references, and materials related to individual systems, equipment, or components for use in training materials.
  • Coordinate to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed in content development.
  • Provide direction to animators, modelers, and graphic designers during the content development process, including recommendations for visuals within video scripts.
  • Travel to customer facilities to collect reference documentation for development projects.
  • Ensure accurate implementation and use of document and format standards, including branded fonts and other typographic or visual elements.

***Qualifications***

Required

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven technical writing skills, with the ability to create documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in conveying complex topics clearly and effectively.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
  • Drive to exceed client expectations with high-quality work products delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ability to be highly productive in a self-directed work environment.

Preferred

  • Strong foundational knowledge of equipment and operations in TTP’s target industries, particularly power generation.
  • Background in developing internal operations and procedures for technical content production.
  • Working knowledge or proficiency with desktop publishing, video production, animation, or similar programs such as CAD
  • Experience developing in-person and computer-based training curriculum.

***Education & Experience***

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field with three years of technical writing experience or five years of relevant technical experience.
  • Technical background in plant operations and or maintenance; equipment experience should be power plant (conventional Rankine Cycle, Nuclear, Gas-Fired, Combined Cycle, and Renewable).

***Physical Requirements***

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to climb many steps and use permanently installed vertical ladders.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
