My client is a global organization that provides sustainability solutions to businesses, governments, and non-profit organizations.
In this role, you will be supporting the materials testing and special inspections team that works on a variety of projects in the commercial, residential, industrial, energy generation and
distribution, and educational facilities across Southern California.
Responsibilities:
- Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, construction of conventional and critical structures
- Assignments usually include one or more of the following:
- Review of project plans and specifications
- Interpretation of current building codes and relevant engineering properties
- Interpretation of field and laboratory testing and special inspections for use in preparation of routine reports with supervisor guidance
- Analyses requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments
- Client and stakeholder communication, interaction, and relationship-building
- Coordinate the work of special inspectors, subcontractors, and others who assist in specific assignments
- Interaction with field inspectors, dispatch, and materials testing lab personnel for quality control of construction
- Using testing and construction standards such as Caltrans, DSA, ICC, ACI, and others for testing and reporting compliance
- Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
- Prepare proposals for testing and inspection services from take-off through cost estimates
- Review/approve mix design submittals
- Review and summarize laboratory test data
- Prepare technical reports and proposals
- Attend all required meetings
- Follow company policies and procedures and all safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 3-6 years of Civil or Geotechnical experience
- Knowledge of Caltrans, DSA, ICC, or ACI
- EIT Designation
- Willing to obtain PE certification within two years
- Familiarity with interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Strong reporting, proposals, and correspondence skills
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in an environment with moderate noise levels, at times
- Must be able to pass a background check
