This position acts as a leader to the Quality Assurance Operations on site teams leading the digital platform for all locations. Manage customer relationships through communications on current, pending, and previous business with customers. The position will also partner with Operations to identify opportunities in QA policies, procedures, Quality Records, Workflows, routing systems, Master Lists, finished quality specifications, ingredient and purchased product specifications, and technical product information sheets for the company products and co-packed products. This position provides remote and onsite support to the Fruit, Vegetable and Tomato manufacturing facilities with supporting the systems team on implementing the digital footprint. Provides leadership and technical support to all Del Monte facilities in quality systems development, implementation, food safety, continuous improvement, quality control, and modernization of Quality systems via paperless QA documentation. The incumbent will lead quality audits of Del Monte facilities, co-manufacturers, and vendors, and provides support to the Quality Systems PDM Administrator.

 

The salary range for this role is: $81,733 - $138,935.

 

Responsibilities

 

Digital Support

  • Drive and lead Plant and Corporate Teams through change management of quality systems and overall digital documentation efforts at each site.
    • Ensure digital systems alignment for new equipment, process lines, or line modifications and commissioning of new products.
    • Provide basic technical support for hardware used in electronic systems and identify alternate solutions for reoccurring hardware issues.
    • Oversee Quality module in SAP; maintain up to date Quality related data in SAP and assign required parameters as demanded by new product, product changes and location assignments.
    • Support for quality-related Electronic systems (TrakSYS, Warehouse Management Systems (Blue Yonder), Plant Systems).

 

RFP Support

 

  • Lead Quality Systems team in completing and maintaining customer documentation / RFP requests. Complete customer questionnaires, documentation requests in timely manner to support sales bids and current customer base.
  • Develop, build, and maintain key customer relationships through written and verbal communication.
  • Learn new and current customer databases, including learning Tracegains and other formats to satisfy timely requests for information to ensure customer compliance is met.

 

Internal Audits

 

  • Audit internal Del Monte facilities. Audit co-packers, vendors (domestic and Mexico/Canada) and distribution centers as necessary.

 

Vendor/Co-Pack Management

 

  • Manage assigned co-packers or accounts through any quality improvement activities, new products, and compliance verification.

 

Other Responsibilities

 

  • Work with other department management, identify areas of improvement and evaluate quality programs to ensure production of products, services, and processes are consistent with established standards.
  • Through analysis of operations audit results and working with Operations and Technical Services, close gaps in audits by identifying and recommending best practice approaches to problem solving. Communicate findings to manager and DMFI facilities to assist with adoption of best practice.
  • Coordinate and provide leadership to the QA Team to deliver training and assistance to electronic DM platforms. Assure data validity and traceability are managed and expanded to meet the New Era of Smarter Food Safety guidance.
  • Work with Corporate QA and other cross functional team members to attain certifications for Kosher, Halal, non-GMO, Gluten Free and Organic certifications.
  • As assigned, audit internal Del Monte facilities. Audit co-packers, vendors (domestic and Mexico/Canada) and distribution centers as necessary.
  • Oversee Quality module in SAP; maintain up to date Quality related data in SAP and assign required parameters as demanded by new product, product changes and location assignments.
  • Work in partnership with R&D and QA in reviewing technical specifications and ensure consistency and accuracy. Identify omissions or discrepancies and resolve issues prior to issuance of specifications.
  • Support the delivery, maintenance and control issuance and maintenance of QA policies, procedures, formulas, and specifications on QA team site.
  • 5-20 % travel required (depending on location), domestic and international, for audits at the production facilities, co-packers, and vendors.

Qualifications

 

  • BS in Food Science or related field. Advanced degree(s) highly preferred.
  • With BS degree, minimum 5-6 years with responsibilities in Quality & Food Safety and/or regulatory areas. With advanced degree, minimum 4 years with Q&FS and/or regulatory area.
  • Detail and process oriented with strong problem resolution abilities.
  • Self-starter; take charge, positive and proactive attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer aptitude. Experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access desirable. Working knowledge with external databases, SharePoint sites.
  • Ability to deftly use Del Monte Technical, ERP, and routing systems. Knowledge and experience of working with ERP systems such as SAP is highly preferred.
  • Professional auditing experience of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Standards applying to food manufacturing facilities.
  • Knowledge of FDA FSMA laws and regulations.
