About Feeding Charlotte:
Feeding Charlotte is a nonprofit organization committed to rescuing surplus food from local businesses and delivering it to organizations that serve those in need. We aim to reduce food waste and address food insecurity in the Charlotte community.
Position Summary:
Feeding Charlotte is seeking a motivated and organized Part-Time Program Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day operations of our food rescue program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fighting food insecurity and sustainability and will play a crucial role in coordinating food donation logistics, managing relationships with food donors and recipient organizations, and supporting volunteer events. The Program Coordinator must be comfortable driving a box truck and have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scheduling Food Donation Logistics:
- Coordinate and schedule pickups and deliveries of food donations from local businesses to recipient organizations.
- Ensure timely and efficient logistics, maintaining communication with all stakeholders involved.
- Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with food donors, including restaurants, grocery stores, and other food businesses.
- Serve as a point of contact for recipient organizations, ensuring their needs are met and any issues are addressed promptly.
- Volunteer Event Support:
- Assist with organizing and facilitating volunteer events, including training, scheduling, and coordinating volunteers for food pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate with volunteers regularly to ensure they have the support and information needed to successfully complete their tasks.
- Driving and Transportation:
- Safely operate and drive a box truck for food pickups and deliveries as needed.
- Ensure the box truck is maintained in good working order, scheduling maintenance and inspections as required.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of food donations, deliveries, and volunteer activities.
- Assist with reporting and data entry as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Prior experience in logistics, nonprofit program coordination, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with volunteers and managing events is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a box truck is required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks related to food handling.
- Passion for fighting food insecurity, sustainability, and community service.
